Fez Municipality Invites Youth and Civil Society to Participate in Establishing a Youth Advisory Council

The President of the Fez Municipal Council has announced an open call for interest to young men and women and civil society organizations in the city to participate in consultative meetings regarding the project to establish a Local Youth Advisory Council for the Fez Municipal Council.

This announcement comes as part of the implementation of the Constitution’s provisions and Organic Law No. 113-14 relating to municipalities, particularly Article 119, which stipulates the creation of advisory bodies within the municipal council.

This initiative aims to enhance openness to citizens and civil society organizations to consolidate the culture of participatory community management. The Fez Municipality is working on activating the concepts of citizen participation and participatory democracy.

In this context, the Fez Municipality, in partnership with the Strong Cities Network through its regional center for the Middle East and North Africa, is organizing consultative meetings with youth and civil society organizations to prepare and develop the project for establishing the Local Youth Advisory Council.

Conditions for participation in the consultative meetings:

  1. Participants must be between 18 and 40 years old.
  2. Must be registered in the territorial register of the Fez Municipality.
  3. Must have a desire and enthusiasm to engage and participate in these consultative meetings.

Participation criteria for civil society organizations:

  1. The association must be legally established and have the final receipt or deposit receipt at least two years before the deadline.
  2. Its main headquarters and objectives should be primarily focused on youth.
  3. The majority of the managing board members should not exceed 40 years of age.

Those wishing to apply should submit their applications via email or deposit them at the Department of Cultural, Social, and Sports Affairs no later than September 10, 2024, at 4:30 PM.
