In a significant move to enhance infrastructure and improve connectivity between regions of the kingdom, the Moroccan government has announced an ambitious project to construct a highway linking the cities of El Hajeb and Errachidia. This massive project, with a cost of 6.2 billion dirhams, aims to improve regional connectivity and boost economic development in the area.
According to official information, the highway will extend over a distance of 420 kilometers, with a total width of 20.5 meters. The project is set to include the construction of 58 engineering structures along the route, ensuring smooth traffic flow and traveler safety.
This project is of great strategic importance, as the new highway will connect El Hajeb and Errachidia to the kingdom’s main motorway network, including the highways linking Fez to Rabat and Oujda. This connection is expected to create a new dynamic between the Drâa-Tafilalet region and the Fès-Meknès region, contributing to enhanced economic and social exchange between these areas.
The vital project is expected to improve transportation and facilitate the movement of citizens and goods between these important regions of the kingdom. It will also work to promote tourism and encourage investments in the areas through which the road will pass.
No specific date has been announced for the commencement of work on the project or the expected completion date. However, it is certain that its completion will mark a qualitative leap in Morocco’s transport infrastructure and contribute to achieving the kingdom’s economic and social development goals.
