The Moroccan National Futsal Team has achieved a new historic milestone by being named the best national team in the world for 2023 during the 24th edition of the annual Futsalplanet Awards.
Coach Hicham Dguig’s team was honored by the specialized website Futsalplanet.com in recognition of the exceptional level the team has displayed in recent years.
According to a statement from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), “The National Team received this recognition as a result of its outstanding performance in recent years, crowned by three African Nations Championships and three Arab Cups, in addition to qualifying for the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup in Lithuania.”
In this edition of the Futsal Awards, the Atlas Lions surpassed renowned world teams such as Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, Spain, and Uzbekistan, the host country of the next World Cup.
Soufiane El Mesrar and his teammates are seriously preparing for the Futsal World Cup, scheduled to take place from September 14 to October 6, 2024. The Moroccan team will play in Group E alongside Portugal, Panama, and Tajikistan.
This international recognition confirms the continuous rise and success achieved by the Moroccan National Futsal Team on the global stage, enhancing Morocco’s position in this sport.
