Casablanca – The Moroccan Ministry of Interior has issued a decision to suspend the presidents of two local communes in Nouaceur Province, citing what the ministry described as “serious irregularities in local affairs management.”
Informed sources reported that the decision included Hicham Ghafir, president of Dar Bouazza commune, and Mohammed Qotrob, president of Oulad Azzouz commune. This measure came following a series of inquiries directed by the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Interior to the aforementioned presidents.
In the same context, sources revealed that a judicial session is scheduled to be held at the Administrative Court in Casablanca on August 7, 2024, to consider the possibility of permanently dismissing the two presidents from their positions.
This decision comes as part of government efforts aimed at enhancing local governance and ensuring transparency in public affairs management at the territorial commune level.
It is worth noting that this step may stir controversy in political and administrative circles, especially with the approaching local elections. No comment has been obtained from the suspended presidents at the time of preparing this report.
All eyes remain on the results of the ongoing investigations and the final decision to be taken by the Administrative Court in the coming weeks.
