Israeli emergency services announced on Saturday that nine people were killed and 34 others injured in a rocket attack launched from Lebanon targeting the occupied Golan Heights in northern Israel.
Eli Bin, Director General of Magen David Adom, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, stated that nine people were killed as a result of a rocket strike on the town of Majdal Shams.
Bin added that among the 34 injured, 17 people are in critical condition, including 10 children.
This attack comes amid escalating tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border, raising fears of a potential expansion of the conflict in the region.
It is worth noting that the Golan Heights is Syrian territory occupied by Israel in 1967 and unilaterally annexed in 1981, a move not recognized by the international community.
No official comment has yet been issued from the Lebanese side regarding this rocket attack, while Israeli authorities continue to assess the situation and take necessary measures.
