The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has taken a series of urgent measures to address the health effects of the severe heat wave sweeping the country, based on the bulletins issued by the National Meteorological Directorate, which confirmed high temperatures in different regions.
In a statement, the ministry explained that the continuous work system has been activated in health institutions in areas affected by high temperatures, by ensuring the provision of medical, nursing and ambulance crews, in addition to securing the necessary medicines and medical supplies to provide the necessary care.
The ministry emphasized the need to take preventive precautions against the health damage caused by high temperatures, especially for the most vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, the elderly and patients with chronic diseases.
The ministry recommended drinking enough water regularly to prevent dehydration, moisturizing the body periodically, especially the face and arms, avoiding going out during hot daytime periods, staying in cool places and refraining from strenuous physical activities, in addition to keeping homes cool by closing windows during the day.
The ministry recommends the following:
Drink enough water regularly to avoid dehydration.
Moisturize the body with water periodically, especially the face and arms.
Avoid going outside during periods of the day when temperatures are very high, between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Stay in cool places and avoid strenuous physical activities.
Keep homes cool by closing windows during the day and opening them in the evening.
Consult a doctor in case of health issues or regular treatments.
The ministry stressed the need to see a doctor in case of symptoms such as high temperature, pale skin, muscle cramps, feeling very thirsty or losing weight, headache and nausea, and called for an immediate trip to the nearest health institution in case of loss of consciousness.
The ministry concluded by emphasizing the importance of adhering to health guidelines to ensure everyone’s safety during the current period of high temperatures.
