Local sources reported that a huge fire broke out on Wednesday evening in the forests located in the Bourd area of the Aknoul community in the Taza region, and eyewitnesses described the fire as “tragic”, due to the rapid spread of the fire and the breadth of the fire.
According to the same sources, civil protection elements and teams of the Regional Directorate of Water and Forests were mobilized and rushed to the scene to work on extinguishing the fire, and a number of local residents contributed to the extinguishing operations, in an attempt to minimize losses.
In a related context, Mustapha Maaza, governor of Taza Province, traveled to the site of the fire to personally supervise the intervention operations and provide all the necessary support to the firefighting teams.
It is expected that Canadier aircraft specialized in fire suppression will be brought in to support the efforts of the firefighting teams on the ground.
