Food Poisoning Affects 26 People at Family Gathering in Casablanca

Casablanca – Approximately 26 people experienced symptoms of food poisoning after consuming a “pastilla” dish during a family celebration in the Lahraouyine neighborhood of Casablanca.

The incident occurred during a ceremony held at a family home in the Lahraouyine district, where about 26 individuals, including children, were urgently transported to the hospital after experiencing severe abdominal pain and nausea.

The affected individuals received initial medical care at the Sidi Othman Hospital in Casablanca, where they were attended to by the medical staff. Their health condition has now stabilized.

The reasons for this incident are still unknown. Even the organizers of the feast are unaware of the true cause of this food poisoning, though they indicated that they had ordered the pastilla from a well-known local caterer, without naming them. Unfortunately, this lack of disclosure could potentially lead to new cases of poisoning.

This incident highlights the importance of caution when choosing food sources for family events and the necessity of ensuring the safety of food served at such gatherings. It also raises questions about the food safety procedures followed by caterers in the city.

It’s worth noting that the health authorities in Casablanca have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. An investigation is expected to be opened to determine the circumstances of this case of mass food poisoning.

The event underscores the need for greater awareness about food safety in catering services and at large gatherings. It also emphasizes the importance of transparency in such cases to prevent similar incidents in the future.
