The National Coordination of the Health Sector revealed on Monday that it received an invitation from the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khaled Ait Taleb, to hold a meeting today, Tuesday, to inform the coordination of the government’s response to their responses to the Prime Minister.
The government’s response comes after the coordination announced an escalation of its protest steps, including a five-day strike this week and a national health workers’ vigil in front of parliament on July 25.
The coordination explained that the escalation came in response to “the silence of the prime minister and the absence of any response to our responses regarding the government’s proposals to address the demands of the health workers, which include the sectoral agreement and the minutes signed with the unions in both their material and moral aspects, in addition to the measures to implement all the demand points.”
Earlier, the National Coordination of the Health Sector had written to Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch a week ago, asking for a response regarding the proposed solutions to the implementation of the health sector agreement.
In its correspondence, the coordination noted that the Prime Minister had instructed the Minister of Health and Social Protection to communicate the government’s proposals to the coordination, which was done on July 12, 2024.
The letter emphasized that the National Coordination is waiting for the Prime Minister’s answer and his government’s response to the legitimate demands contained in the agreement and the minutes signed with all unions, “to do justice to the health workers, appreciate and motivate them, ensure their involvement in the process of reforming the health system, overcome the state of tension prevailing in the sector, and provide the necessary health services to citizens.”
