About 1,800 male and female inmates of Ain Aicha local prison in Taounate benefited on Saturday from the services of a multidisciplinary medical convoy organized by the Accompaniment and Reintegration Center in Fes, in collaboration with the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners, the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, the Al Daraj Foundation for Social and Charitable Works and the Regional Delegation for Health and Social Protection in Taounate.
The initiative, under the slogan “Strengthening the health supply is a key pillar of reintegration”, aims to enhance the health care of the prison population by providing specialized medical services that included 3613 examinations for all age groups and various medical specialties. The campaign involved 25 specialized doctors in addition to the institution’s health staff.
Kamal El Warithi, regional coordinator of the Accompaniment and Reintegration Center in Fez, confirmed that the convoy comes within the framework of the institution’s strategy to improve life conditions inside prisons and bring health services closer to inmates, and was able to serve about 1,800 male and female inmates, including women and juveniles.
For his part, Khaled El-Zein, director of Ain Aicha local prison, pointed out that this successful medical convoy comes within the framework of close cooperation between the concerned authorities, and contributed to providing free examinations and medicines to inmates.
Salah Bennani, head of the Darragh Foundation for Social and Charitable Works in Rabat, added that the convoy serving prisons included 12 medical, paramedical and technical specialties, which enhances their ability to effectively meet the needs of inmates.
