An air boom at Moroccan airports: More than 15.1 million passengers arrived in Morocco in the first half of this year

Rabat – The National Airports Office in Morocco reported on Wednesday that the number of passengers who passed through the kingdom’s airports during the first half of 2024 reached 15,104,579, marking an increase of 19% compared to the same period in 2023.

These figures confirm the continued positive dynamics witnessed by the Moroccan aviation sector, which aligns with the notable growth in the tourism sector.

In detail, Marrakech-Menara Airport recorded 4,492,705 passengers during the first six months of 2024, an increase of 29% compared to the same period last year.

As for Agadir-Al Massira Airport, 1,471,058 passengers were recorded, representing an increase of 34% compared to the same period in 2023.

For its part, Rabat-Salé Airport welcomed 777,008 passengers during the first half of the year, registering an increase of 40% compared to the same period of the previous year.

These figures reflect the success of the strategies adopted to enhance the aviation and tourism sector in Morocco, and also indicate the sector’s significant recovery from the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. This growth is expected to continue with ongoing government efforts to develop airport infrastructure and improve the quality of services provided to travelers.

The substantial increase in passenger numbers across various airports highlights Morocco’s growing appeal as a tourist destination and its improving connectivity with the rest of the world. It also underscores the effectiveness of Morocco’s aviation policies and investments in expanding and modernizing its airport facilities.

This positive trend is likely to have a ripple effect on the broader economy, boosting related sectors such as hospitality, transportation, and retail. As Morocco continues to position itself as a key player in both regional and international air travel, these figures suggest a promising outlook for the country’s aviation and tourism industries in the coming years.
