Moroccan Company Wins Project to Build Underground Parking in Meknes Medina

The Agency for Development and Rehabilitation of the Fez Medina (ADER-Fès) has revealed its selection of “Ait Haj Moulay Abdelghani” (AHMA) company to implement the project of building an underground parking lot at Bab Rha in the old city of Meknes. The company, based in Marrakech, was the sole bidder for the tender.

According to available information, AHMA will receive 72.2 million dirhams for its services, which exceeds the initial estimated cost of 69.3 million dirhams.

This project is part of a rehabilitation and enhancement program for the old city of Meknes spanning from 2019 to 2023. The new parking facility will cover a total area of 9,000 square meters, of which 5,300 square meters will be built underground, providing capacity for up to 400 parking spaces, in addition to a public square on the surface.

The future parking lot will be managed using the centralized Circontrol Outdoor system, which allows real-time counting of available spaces to guide users and regulate access to the parking lot in case of congestion.

It is worth noting that AHMA has a track record of successfully executing major projects for the public sector, including the construction of several hospitals and courts, such as the Court of Appeal in Guelmim.

This project is considered an important step in improving the infrastructure of the old city of Meknes, which will contribute to enhancing its tourist appeal and improving the quality of life for its residents.
