In a dramatic development, the judicial police department in Tetouan has launched an extensive investigation against one of its officers working in the traffic accidents department. This follows accusations of extortion and bribery.
Informed sources reported that the investigations were launched on Wednesday evening, 26 June, under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, after receiving a complaint from a citizen. The complaint included allegations that the officer in question tried to blackmail him and demanded a sum of money in exchange for overlooking his job duties while handling a traffic accident case.
Following an urgent investigation, the suspected officer was caught red-handed receiving part of the requested amount as a bribe. He was immediately taken into custody for further investigation.
The sources confirmed that the Public Prosecution is continuing its investigations to uncover all the circumstances of the case. The General Directorate of National Security announced that it will wait for the end of the judicial proceedings before taking the necessary disciplinary measures in accordance with the statute of national security employees.
