A bribery scandal shakes the traffic accidents department in the Tetouan security governorate: Police officer accused of receiving a bribe in exchange for waiving judicial proceedings

The judicial police station in Tetouan opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, on Wednesday, to investigate accusations of bribery and extortion against a police officer serving in the traffic accidents department.

According to a statement by the General Directorate of National Security, the judicial police officers reacted seriously to a report filed by a person alleging that he had been subjected to extortion by the accused police officer, who was asked to pay a sum of money in exchange for waiving judicial proceedings related to a traffic accident.

The police officer was taken into custody on the instructions of the Public Prosecution, as part of its efforts to uncover all the details and circumstances of the incident.

On the administrative side, the General Directorate of National Security is awaiting the completion of the judicial procedures before taking the necessary disciplinary measures against the employee involved, in accordance with the statute of the National Security staff.
