Last Saturday, members of the judicial police in Fez arrested an employee of the National Office of Water and Electricity in Safrou, the distribution department, in flagrante delicto for receiving a bribe of 3000 dirhams.
According to the available preliminary data, the arrest came after the public prosecution received a report through the “Green Line” by a contractor accusing the employee of defrauding him of a sum of money in exchange for facilitating the obtaining of some licenses.
After verifying the veracity of the allegations, the public prosecution instructed the judicial police to open an investigation into the matter.
The judicial police officers were able to arrest the employee in flagrante delicto for receiving the agreed bribe amount, and he was placed in pretrial detention, while a judicial investigation was opened pending his referral to the judiciary.
This operation comes within the framework of the efforts made by the Moroccan authorities to combat the phenomenon of bribery and promote the principle of transparency in various public administrations.
