Summer and digestive diseases

With the advent of summer, which is considered one of the longest seasons of the year and is characterized by high temperatures and high humidity, in addition to changing human eating habits, we notice the emergence of several diseases and health issues, and thus a large number of patients flock to hospitals and health centers.

Among the most prominent diseases of the digestive system, we find : 1. food poisoning that results from eating contaminated food, which is what we call foodborne diseases, without neglecting the reproduction of the causes of bacterial diarrhea of the Salmonella type, because most people are on vacation, we notice the consumption of materials that have lost their properties due to exposure to the sun and failure to respect the conditions of cleanliness, as well as the cold chain, as well as a defect in the way some foodstuffs are stored, such as dairy products and meat, and the consumption of vegetables and fruits without cleaning causes acute intestinal inflammation, including abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea and fever.

Health teams may have to hospitalize young children, the elderly, pregnant women, infants and people with chronic diseases.

  1. Esophageal reflux, which leads to irritation and inflammation of the esophageal wall and thus the sensation of what we call heartburn.
  2. Indigestion
  3. Irritable bowel syndrome causes flatulence, gas, constipation or diarrhea.
  4. Constipation is the result of lazy digestion in the majority of cases.
  5. Stomach ulcers due to ulceration of the gastric mucosa leading to abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
