Moroccan football player Mehdi Dghoughi, aged 28, passed away on Wednesday night following a tragic car accident. His brother Amine announced the sad news on his Facebook page.
Dghoughi, who grew up and developed his skills in the ranks of Wydad Athletic Club, progressing through various age groups, played for Wydad’s first team before being loaned to Raja Beni Mellal.
His football career then led him to play for several Moroccan clubs, including Association Salé, Racing de Casablanca, Chabab Atlas Khénifra, Kasbah Tadla, and Youssoufia Berrechid. In the last season, he joined Tihad Athletic Sport (TAS).
As of now, the details of the accident that claimed the young player’s life have not been disclosed.
It’s worth noting that Moroccan football recently witnessed another tragic incident where a Moroccan player drowned while attempting to reach Spain.
The death of Mehdi Dghoughi is a significant loss for Moroccan sports, as he was one of the promising players from whom much was expected in the future.
This sad event serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety, even for young athletes in the prime of their careers.
