In a move aimed at bolstering local administration and activating the role of local authorities in the Kingdom, Minister of the Interior, Abdellatif Loudiyi, has granted governors of regions, prefects, and governors of provinces a series of new administrative powers.
These powers include the ability to issue decisions and take measures related to endorsing appointments, dismissals, and termination of duties in senior positions within territorial communities’ administrations, cooperative institutions between communities, and groups of territorial communities.
In this context, the Ministry of the Interior announced exceptions for the positions of Director-General of Services at the Regional Directorate and the Prefecture of Casablanca, as well as the Director of the Regional Agency for Project Implementation, from the application of these new powers.
This decision comes in accordance with Article 2 of the decree published in the official gazette, whereby these powers do not cover decisions and contracts for which administrative procedures began before the effective date of the new decree.
