On Wednesday morning, police officers at the Salé Regional Security Department arrested two men, aged 23 and 29, on suspicion of being involved in the possession and trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
According to a statement by the General Directorate of National Security, the arrest was based on accurate information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Surveillance of the National Territory, where the police officers were able to spot the two suspects on board a light vehicle coming from a city in the north of the Kingdom, and stopped them at the level of the traffic control point at the entrance to the city of Salé.
The search operation carried out resulted in the discovery of a large quantity of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, including 1010 Ecstasy tablets, several doses of cocaine, in addition to a sum of money suspected of being the proceeds of the trafficking of these narcotic substances.
The two suspects were taken into custody pending the judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecution, in order to uncover all the circumstances of this case, identify the other presumed participants in this criminal activity, and uncover their possible links with networks trafficking narcotics and psychotropic substances.
This operation comes within the framework of the continuous efforts made by the General Directorate of National Security to combat the phenomenon of drugs and their trafficking, and to protect citizens from their dangers, by strengthening coordination between the various security services, intensifying security campaigns, and activating intelligence work.
