Eid al-Adha in Saudi Arabia: Crescent Moon Sighted, Announces Eid Date

Saudi Arabia, Thursday, June 6, 2024: It was announced in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this evening, Thursday, June 6, 2024, that the crescent moon of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah has been sighted. This marks the beginning of the month of Hajj and determines the date of Eid al-Adha.

Sighting of the Dhu al-Hijjah Crescent Moon:

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced this evening, Thursday, that the crescent moon of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah has been sighted. This came after receiving numerous testimonies from different parts of the Kingdom, confirming the sighting of the crescent moon.

Eid al-Adha Date:

With the confirmation of the sighting of the Dhu al-Hijjah crescent moon, Sunday, 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1445 H, corresponding to Jun 16, 2024 CE, will be the first day of Eid al-Adha.

Eid al-Adha:

Eid al-Adha is one of the most important Islamic holidays, celebrated by Muslims all over the world. This Eid commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) عليه السلام to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to Allah تعالى, before Allah تعالى redeemed him with a ram.
