Casablanca, Morocco – The Farah neighbourhood in Casablanca is in a state of anxiety and fear after a three-storey plus ground floor house developed serious cracks, indicating that it could collapse at any moment.
According to eyewitnesses, a deep crack appeared in the wall of the house, causing it to separate from the neighbouring house. Rescue teams and police rushed to the scene to evacuate neighbouring residents and secure the area.
According to local sources, the house is located near the date market, and the concerned authorities have started investigating the reasons for the appearance of the cracks, and taking the necessary measures to prevent a disaster.
The phenomenon of old houses collapsing in Morocco is not new, and on Tuesday, 12 September 20231, a three-storey house collapsed in the Farah neighbourhood in Casablanca.
