Morocco and Italy Join Forces to Combat Terrorism and Organized Crime

Morocco’s Director General of National Security Abdellatif Hamouchi received on Monday in Rabat his Italian counterpart Vittorio Pisani, who is visiting the Kingdom at the head of a high-level security delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed security threats and current international crises and their potential repercussions on the security of the two countries. They also discussed the risks of cross-border organised crime such as human trafficking, illegal migration, drug trafficking and money laundering.

During the meeting, they assessed the existing security cooperation between Morocco and Italy and reviewed police issues of common interest.

Given the mutual desire to strengthen this cooperation, the two officials examined ways to intensify bilateral coordination at the operational level as well as the exchange of expertise and technical assistance.

The meeting comes within the framework of strengthening Morocco’s international security cooperation mechanisms with brotherly and friendly countries, and activating bilateral and multilateral cooperation channels to combat terrorism and transnational organised crime.
