The Hassan II Taboureda Prize concludes its 23rd edition by crowning the Sikas Rachid squadron from Barchid Municipality

Rabat, Morocco – The 23rd edition of the Hassan II Prize for Traditional Equestrian Arts ‘Taboureda’ came to a close on Sunday evening, in the presence of Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and other dignitaries.

The Cycas Rachid squadron of the Casablanca-Settat Municipality of Barchid managed to win the grand prize of this edition, after a week of intense competitions at the Dar El Salam Arena in Rabat.

Cycas Rachid’s riders were honoured with a gold medal and a prize money of Dh500,000. Serbat Al Bahrawi Sharaf of the Esfi Municipality of Esfi Marrakech came in second place, winning the silver medal and a prize money of 300,000 dirhams. Serba Benkheda Abdelghani from Beni Mellal Municipality, Beni Mellal Khenifra region, came in third place, receiving a brass medal and a cash prize of 200,000 dirhams.

In the youth category, the squadron of Zariza Badr from Madiona Municipality, Casablanca Settat won the gold medal and a prize money of 100,000 dirhams. The riders of Grabou Mohammed’s squadron from Beni Mellal won the silver medal and a prize money of 70,000 dirhams, while Sbeibi Youssef’s squadron came in third place and received a prize money of 40,000 dirhams.

Lieutenant Colonel Sikkas Rachid expresses his happiness:

Lieutenant Colonel Rachid Sikkas, Commander of Sikkas Rachid’s gold medal winning squadron in the adult category, expressed his great happiness at this achievement, stressing that it is the result of a great effort made throughout the year.

Sekas said: ‘Alhamdulillah, I can’t describe how I feel because this coronation is what every presenter in Morocco wishes for, not just the participants this year. Alhamdulillah, we are very happy today,’ he said.

Strong participation:

A total of 24 of the Kingdom’s best traditional horsemanship squadrons took part in this edition, 18 in the adult category and 6 in the youth category. They qualified after competing in regional and inter-regional competitions organised in March and May in different cities in Morocco, in partnership with the Royal Company for the Encouragement of Persians.

Exciting competitions:

The competitions of this edition were characterised by intensity and strength, with all participating teams presenting elegant performances that won the admiration of the large audience that attended the events of the award from inside and outside the Kingdom.
