Fez, 1 June 2024: The Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry in Fez hosted, on Saturday, a special football match between the veterans of the Morocco Fassi and FC Meknassi teams, on the occasion of the return of FC Meknassi to the spotlight after an 11-year absence.
The meeting was attended by a number of Moroccan football stars, including Abdullah Tazi, the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations champion, and Abdelaziz Slimani, star of the Moroccan national team at the 1986 World Cup. Also present were Hamid Kharak, Morocco’s top scorer during the 1980 Throne Cup victory and Morocco’s top scorer during its golden period, and Moulay Edis El Khalfi, one of the senior managers of FC Meknassi.
The old players competed in a friendly atmosphere full of nostalgia, as they enjoyed reminiscing about their achievements and memories shared with their respective teams. Some of the veteran players were honoured for their valuable contributions to the history of Moroccan football.
In conclusion, the attendees agreed to renew this football meeting on future occasions and look forward to the return of the great derby between Morocco Fassi and FC Meknassi to the national championship next season, as a new opportunity to revive this historic match, which is considered one of the most important and beautiful derbies in Morocco.
