Makkah, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia’s Ministries of Hajj and Umrah and Interior have warned citizens and residents in Makkah against harbouring or transporting violators of Hajj regulations and instructions without a permit or without a Hajj visa, stressing that violators will be subject to penalties.
Campaigns to combat violations:
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s social media accounts posted a video clip showing the campaigns of its joint field teams with the Ministry of Interior to seize violators and fraudsters, including promoters of fake Hajj campaigns, addressing those wishing to perform Hajj: ‘The choice is yours! The choice is yours: a regular and easy pilgrimage in which you abide by the permit and enjoy the services; or circumvent the regulations and be subject to penalties.’
Deterrent penalties for violators:
For its part, the Saudi Ministry of Interior clarified on its social media accounts that those who transport violators of Hajj regulations and instructions who have not obtained a Hajj permit will be punished with a fine, imprisonment, or both.
The ministry emphasised the need to abide by Hajj regulations and instructions as a basis for maintaining the security and safety of pilgrims.
Fines and deportation for violators:
Citizens, residents and visitors who violate Hajj rules and regulations without authorisation will be fined SAR 10,000, deported to their countries and banned from entering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the periods specified by law.
More severe penalties for transporters:
Those who transport violators of Hajj regulations and instructions without a permit are subject to a stiffer penalty of up to 6 months’ imprisonment and a fine of up to SAR 50,000, with a demand to confiscate the land transport vehicle by a court judgement, deport the violating carrier if he is an expatriate, and prevent him from entering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia according to the periods specified by law.
A call for compliance:
The Ministries of Hajj, Umrah and Interior call on all citizens, residents and visitors to abide by Hajj regulations and instructions, and obtain the necessary permits to perform Hajj in an organised and safe manner, to avoid legal accountability and applicable penalties.
