As part of efforts to promote health and health awareness in the community, the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in Fez Meknes, in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), organized special events on the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, which falls on May 28 of each year.
These events witnessed joint efforts between health, educational and community institutions, as awareness and sensitization days were organized for girls studying in a number of educational institutions in the region. These institutions were:
Youssef Bin Tashfin Preparatory School in Boudarbala
Boualem and Jerusalem Preparatory School in Ait Harzallah
Khaled ibn al-Walid Preparatory School, Ben Ajram Preparatory School, Abdelkrim al-Khatabi Preparatory School
Preparatory School 20 August in Belkassir and Preparatory School Omar ibn al-Khattab in Ait Oualal.
The events included various presentations and educational sessions on the importance of puberty and the physiological and psychological changes that boys and girls go through. It also focused on introducing students to the concept of the menstrual cycle and providing girls with tips and advice on personal hygiene during this sensitive period.
Participants emphasized the importance of communicating with the family and community in this context. At the end of the events, the organizing committee provided personal hygiene kits to all participating girls who benefited from the awareness activities.
These joint efforts reflect the commitment of stakeholders to promote health and health awareness in the community, and emphasize the importance of providing information and support to young people during their growth and development.
