The head of the communication department at the General Directorate of Meteorology, Al Hussein Youabed, announced that temperatures are expected to rise in the southern and central regions of Morocco starting today, Tuesday.
In a media statement, Youabed explained that this rise is expected to continue during Wednesday and Thursday, noting that the inland plains of the north of the country will also be affected by this increase in temperatures.
Youabed emphasized that this rise is due to the activity of the Saharan depression and its expansion towards the south of the country, which causes southeast winds that bring warm and tropical air masses from the Sahara to the southern and central provinces of the Kingdom, which is known as the “Shirki” phenomenon.
Regarding the weather forecast for Tuesday, Youabed pointed out that temperatures may range between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius in several regions of the Kingdom, including: Zagora, Tata, Qalaa El Saraghna, Beni Mellal, Fakih Bensalah, and Rachidiya.
