Mustapha Baytas, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of relations with Parliament, emphasized the important achievements of Morocco’s social protection system, thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

During the government’s weekly press conference, Baytas highlighted that this system has enabled fundamental transformations in the level of health care, not only in terms of the quality of services and treatments, but also in terms of enhancing the dignity of all citizens.

The minister noted that social support, which is one of the components of this system, precisely targets the most vulnerable groups, through family compensation for children and a lump sum grant of 500 dirhams.

This new strategy, which cost the government 25 billion dirhams this year, enables it to target 60% of Moroccan families, thus contributing to achieving a kind of justice in the distribution of available resources.

The government spokesperson said that this strategy also included increasing child allowances from 350 dirhams to 400 dirhams per month in 2026, and increasing support for widows from 350 dirhams to 400 dirhams per month in 2024.

Regarding the housing subsidy, Paytas revealed that the government has received 74,711 applications to benefit from this subsidy, 90% of which meet the conditions for benefiting from it.

He explained that the number of beneficiaries of this subsidy has reached 11,749 people so far, and that 57% of the applications are for housing priced between 300,000 and 700,000 dirhams.

He noted that the Fez-Meknes region ranked first in terms of the number of applications submitted, followed by the Casablanca-Settat region and the Eastern Province.

The housing subsidy contributed to a 21.11% increase in cement consumption and a 1.4% increase in housing loans during the period from April 2023 to April 2024, Baitas said.
