Minister of Health and Social Protection receives Italian Ambassador to Morocco and Mama Sophia Foundation officials
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Prof. Khaled Ait Taleb, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Morocco, Mr. Armando Barrocco and his accompanying delegation, as well as Ms. Zakia Siddiqui Attanasio, President of the Mama Sophia Foundation and its partners, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in Rabat. The talks focused on enhancing the opportunities for cooperation between Morocco and the Republic of Italy in the field of health and social protection, and the project of the Mama Sophia Foundation was presented to the Minister.
This meeting comes within the framework of the dynamism of bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and Italy in several fields, particularly with regard to the promotion of fruitful cooperation in the health and social protection sector in line with the common aspirations of the two countries in this field, in light of the Royal Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to launch a radical and profound reform of the national health system.
On this occasion, the Minister was also presented with the project of the Mama Sophia Foundation, in view of the adoption of a fruitful partnership between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and this charity organization, which is concerned with the social protection and health care of children in difficult situations around the world, especially in African countries.
The two parties discussed ways to strengthen the partnership in the field of public health and improve medical care between the two countries through the acquisition of portable non-invasive vital signs monitoring devices licensed for medical use, the creation of a platform for remote medical consultations, the exchange of clinical images and documents, the creation of portals dedicated to data collection and analysis and the management of alerts, as well as interactive applications with the patient, and the creation of a platform for training health professionals and enhancing their capacities in the field of care and health care.
The Mama Sofia Foundation is a non-profit charitable association, created in 2021, which is concerned with children in difficult situations, especially street children, and aims to protect the human, civil, social and political rights of socially and economically disadvantaged minors and youth and, in general, minors at risk in countries with economies in transition, as well as underdeveloped or developing countries, where this defense and protection is not adequately guaranteed, favoring what is called “global citizenship.” The Mama Sofia Foundation’s mission is to protect the human rights of children in difficult situations, especially street children.
