As part of the efforts to fight sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS, the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in the Fes-Meknes region participated in the third edition of the Student Researcher Week by organizing a regional campaign to raise awareness about the ways of transmission and prevention of these diseases.
These efforts come within the framework of the regional strategic plan to fight STDs, AIDS and hepatitis C for the year 2024.
From May 13 to 17, 2024, the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in Fez-Meknès, at the Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah University Center for Seminars and Training, mobilized an experienced medical team to provide integrated counseling and screening services for those wishing to undergo it, while respecting the ethics of rapid, voluntary and free screening. The move comes to enhance opportunities for early detection of sexually transmitted diseases for young people.
In a statement, Dr. Sanaa Zain, regional coordinator of the STI/AIDS and viral hepatitis programs, stressed the efforts made regionally to fight AIDS and hepatitis C, which aims to register zero new infections in the region by 2030.
This regional campaign was well organized and effectively coordinated by the organizers at the Center for Seminars and Training of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah University in Fez, and was well received by the research students participating in the events.
In conclusion, the organizers of this campaign reiterate the call for joint action to achieve the vision of “Fez-Meknes without AIDS, without sexually transmitted diseases and without hepatitis C” by 2030.
