The Director General of National Security and Surveillance Abdellatif Hammouchi signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchange of expertise in the security field with Mr André Augusto Passos Rodrigues, Director General of the Brazilian Federal Police.
This memorandum was signed on Tuesday evening, 21 May 2024, at the venue of the Open Days of National Security, on the sidelines of the working visit of the Director General of the Brazilian Federal Police to the Kingdom of Morocco.
This bilateral memorandum aims to frame and develop channels of joint cooperation between Moroccan and Brazilian security services in the field of ‘combating cross-border organised crime, including preventing and combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, terrorism, human and migrant trafficking, illicit trafficking in firearms, ammunition, explosives and their parts, money laundering, document forgery and cybercrime…’.
At the operational and technical assistance level, the MoU provides for strengthening the exchange of expertise in the field of police training and capacity building, developing the exchange of information, technical means and technologies, as well as providing support in the field of joint research and investigations.

This visit was also an opportunity for the Director General of the Brazilian Federal National Police to learn about the experience of the Open Doors organised by the DGSN on a regular basis once a year, alternating between the Kingdom’s regions, where he visited the various halls of the space, reviewed all the offers made to citizens, and reviewed the objectives and goals of this communication event that embodies the concept of community policing.
This visit embodies the pivotal role played by the Moroccan security services within the international security cooperation system, through its position as a reliable partner capable of facing the growing security challenges, as well as a regional pole to support bilateral and multilateral police cooperation with various countries of the world.
