The Tangier Mediterranean port is preparing to receive a huge shipment of sheep from Romania, comprising around 27,000 head, to meet the needs of the local sacrificial market ahead of Eid al-Adha.
According to digital sources, the move comes as part of Morocco’s efforts to preserve the national sheep flock and provide red meat at affordable prices to consumers during the Eid period.
The operation is expected to contribute significantly to providing red meat at affordable prices to Moroccan consumers, especially during the Eid al-Adha period, and will contribute to supporting the national sheep flock and enhancing food security in the country.
SNRT News reported that the operation was carried out following an agreement between red meat professionals in Morocco and sheep producers in Romania, with the aim of ensuring the supply of Eid al-Adha sacrificial animals in sufficient quantities to meet the growing demand during this period.
