King Mohammed VI sent a cable of condolences to the family of the artist El Hadj Ahmed Birou, who passed away Wednesday night in Rabat.
The Sovereign said that he ‘learnt with great sorrow and sadness the news of the death of the great artist El Hadj Ahmed Birou, praying to God Almighty to grant him the rightful place of rest with the righteous, the martyrs and the righteous.’
The Sovereign expresses his deepest condolences to the family members of the deceased, and through them to his relatives, his artistic family and all his friends and lovers, on the death of one of the pioneers of Granadian music in our country, who contributed for decades to preserving and promoting the authenticity of the Moroccan-Andalusian musical heritage, the Sovereign said.
His Majesty the King ‘prays to the Almighty to reward the deceased for his artistic contributions and good deeds, and to grant him his mercy and grant his family members patience and solace,’ the statement concluded.
