The General Directorate of National Security and the National Agency for Water and Forests organized a seminar today, Monday, at the Royal Institute of Police in Kenitra, on “Combating Serious Crimes in the Forestry Sector.”
This seminar, which falls within the framework of activating the partnership agreement signed between the two parties on January 12th of last year, aims to enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences in combating crimes affecting forest wealth and wildlife.
The agreement seeks to establish an organizational framework for cooperation between the directorate and the agency in the field of forest cover protection, unify visions and methodologies for combating attacks on this national resource. The agreement also aims to enhance cooperation in training and capacity development, and exchange data on forestry crimes and suspects involved in them.
During this seminar, presentations were made on various aspects of cooperation between the directorate and the agency in combating forestry crimes, and open discussions were organized to exchange experiences and expertise among participants.
This initiative confirms the commitment of both the General Directorate of National Security and the National Agency for Water and Forests to protect forest wealth and wildlife from all forms of threats through enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences between them.
Key outcomes of this seminar include:
- Unifying and enhancing efforts and coordination regarding field operations related to the prevention and combating of attacks on forest wealth and wildlife.
- Supporting and assisting elements of the National Agency for Water and Forests by elements of national security during legal procedures targeting shops selling forestry products and wildlife.
- Exchange of data related to forestry crime and suspects involved.
This agreement and seminar come within the framework of efforts made by Moroccan authorities to preserve forest wealth and wildlife and enhance environmental security in the country.
