The High Commission for Planning announced the results of a survey showing a deterioration in the standard of living for 82.5% of households over the past year, while 13.1% reported stability and 4.4% reported improvement. These results indicate a stability of the index at a negative level of -78.1 points.
On the other hand, 56.9% of households expect a deterioration in the standard of living during the next year, while 33.5% expect stability, and 9.6% expect improvement, maintaining the index at a negative level of -47.3 points.
The Commission expected an increase in the unemployment rate during the next year, with 83.6% of households expecting an increase, while 6.1% expect stability, leading to the index remaining at a negative level of -77.5 points.
Additionally, 80.7% of households considered the conditions unsuitable for purchasing durable goods, while 7.8% believed otherwise.
Regarding the financial situation, the Commission reported that 55.9% of households cover their expenses with their income, while 42.3% depleted their savings or had to borrow, and the percentage of households that managed to save did not exceed 1.8%.
As for the financial situation of households during the past year, 56.2% reported a deterioration, while 3.5% reported improvement, leading to the index remaining at a negative level of -52.7 points.
Regarding households’ expectations for their financial situation during the next year, 16.5% expect improvement, while 29.9% expect continued stability.
