Mohamed Aouzal, the former president of Raja Club Athletic, was sentenced on Friday evening by the Court of First Instance in Casablanca to three and a half years in prison for breach of trust.
The Court of First Instance in Casablanca convicted Mohamed Aouzal, the former president of Raja Club Athletic, to three and a half years of imprisonment for breach of trust.
The court also ordered the former Raja strongman to pay the plaintiff, an insurance company, an amount of approximately millions of dirhams.
Mohamed Aouzal was prosecuted for breach of trust, fraud, and deception, following a complaint filed by an insurance company accusing him of violating a partnership agreement concluded between the two parties.
The African Insurance Consulting and Brokerage Company (ACECA), which has been experiencing financial difficulties for years, was placed in judicial liquidation in May 2023. The company had even had its license withdrawn by decision of the Insurance and Social Welfare Control Authority (ACAPS).
This verdict comes in the context of a series of legal problems faced by former presidents of Raja Club in recent years, highlighting the administrative and financial challenges confronting major sports clubs in Morocco.
